The Center for Auto Safety
Consumers Union and Ralph Nader founded the Center for Auto Safety (CAS) in 1970 to provide consumers a voice for auto safety and quality in Washington and to help lemon owners fight back across the country. CAS has a small budget but a big impact on the auto industry. With less than half what General Motors spends on a single Super Bowl commercial, CAS has taken on the auto giants and won for consumers.

 

A PRELIMINARY STUDY OF TEMPERATURES IN ENCLOSED VEHICLES

 

Every year dozens of children tragically die due to hyperthermia (heat stroke) after being left unattended in cars, trucks and vans.  

The initial phase of this study will be to monitor the actual temperatures inside a vehicle under a variety of meteorological circumstances.

The Division of Unintentional Injury Prevention monitors trends in unintentional injuries in the United States, conducts research to better understand risk factors, and evaluates interventions to prevent these injuries. Unintentional injuries result in nearly 70,000 deaths and millions of nonfatal injuries each year. Unintentional injuries are the leading cause of death in the United States for people aged 1-44.

The Trauma Foundation
The Trauma Foundation is committed to reducing injuries and injury deaths by focusing on policy development and policy advocacy. KIDS 'N CARS ™ is a project of the Trauma Foundation, as a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit agency located in San Francisco, CA.

EPIC Medics
EPIC "Eliminate Preventable Injuries of Children" Medics is a nonprofit organization of  Paramedics, EMTs, Firefighters, and many others, whose primary goal is to integrate Emergency Medical Services and injury prevention in partnerships with other public and private organizations and agencies.

The Injury Prevention Web hosts the web sites of several agencies and organizations working to prevent injuries.  This site contains injury data for every U.S. state, more than 700 links to government and nonprofit injury prevention sites worldwide, suggestions of books for your library, the gateway for information about scheduled NIITS sessions, and listings of jobs in the injury research and prevention field.


Injury Free Coalition for Kids
Imagine an injury-free world where children live, grow and play safely. This is our goal. We hope to decrease childhood injuries by creating safe environments, creative and fun activities for children with positive role models. In addition, safety education and research are important components of the network activities.

I Promise Program

The I Promise Program is designed to reduce the risk of youth related car crashes and relies on parents as role models by entering into a family contract with their young driver for safe and responsible use of the car.


The Children's Safety Network
The CSN's National Injury and Violence Prevention Resource Center is located at Education Development Center, Inc., in Newton, Massachusetts. We provide resources and technical assistance to maternal and child health agencies and other organizations seeking to reduce unintentional injuries and violence to children and adolescents. We are one of four Children's Safety Network Resource Centers funded by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau of the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services.

SafeChild.net
SafeChild.net is a project of the Consumer Federation of America Foundation (CFAF). CFA Foundation was founded in 1972 as a private, nonprofit, 501(c)(3), research and education organization that compliments the work of the Consumer Federation of America (CFA). The mission of CFAF is to provide information to the public on consumer issues, assist state and local organizations, and conduct research projects. Child safety and health is an important part of this mission, and CFAF and CFA both have a long history of educating the public on child safety and public health issues.

Carol founded the Save A Life Foundation (SALF) to prevent this tragedy from happening to someone else. National Center for Missing and Exploited Children
NCMEC serves as a focal point in providing assistance to parents, children, law enforcement, schools, and the community in recovering missing children and raising public awareness about way to prevent child abduction, molestation, and sexual exploitation.
