Older Adult Resource Center
Residential Care Information Clearinghouse
 Homepage  Our Mission  AboutUs  Services

For many who call or visit the Older Adult Resource Center (Residential Care Information Clearinghouse), the terms “retirement center, skilled nursing and congregate care” all mean the same thing. We’re here to help people understand appropriate care options for an elderly relative or friend. We can help family members or caregivers through the difficult process of finding appropriate living arrangements for their loved one. Or if possible, we can provide the necessary resources to keep a senior or dependent adult safe in their own home and thereby postpone the need for institutionalization. The OARC can provide:

• unbiased information and guidance about licensed residential care facilities for the elderly or dependent adults in Sacramento, Placer, El Dorado and Yolo Counties.

• a list of care facilities that meet the care needs as well as income level requirements of the senior or dependent adult.

• tools to assist in evaluating licensed residential care facilities including fact sheets, checklists and other resource material. The fact sheets and checklists can help guide you through interviewing a facility.

• information about Community Care Licensing regarding the current licensing status of the facilities so the best possible placement can be made.

• information and referrals for a variety of services needed by the community such as low-cost housing, senior programs, transportation, food programs, emergency response programs, adult day health centers, and home modification resources.

The Older Adult Resource Center is a Senior Information Center for InfoLine of Sacramento. We assess the callers needs and find the most appropriate community resources by utilizing the Directory on Disk. The Directory on Disk includes descriptions of over 1,200 programs serving Sacramento County residents. Other valuable resources provided by Eskaton’s Senior Connection Caregivers’ Resource Guide.

All of the services provided by the Older Adult Resource Center are free to anyone looking for information about residential care facilities or other resources to help improve the quality and safety of the lives of seniors or dependent adults.
