Since its grass roots beginning in 1994, South County OutReach Efforts (SCORE) has been a major source of information and referral to the people of Southern Monterey County. SCORE originated through three charter members: California Rural Legal Assistance (CRLA), State of California Employment Development Department (EDD) and Clinica de Salud del Valle de Salinas (CSVS).Historically, South County residents have been under served. Services in Monterey County have been traditionally allocated to the areas of greatest population density, Salinas and the Monterey Peninsula. Persons living in South County have had less access to services, but not lesser needs.
SCORE is a unique blend of over 50 individual agencies that form a strong coalition to advocate for services for the residents of South County. Over the past years, SCORE has undertaken the following issues calling for improvement in service delivery.
Citizenship, Disability Awareness, Health,
Transportation, Pesticide Use/Poisoning and Education
