This is an online center to help address the needs, concerns and issues of poor persons living in Maryland, including those impoverished due to a disability (including mental health disability).
The impetus for creating this site is the town hall forum to be held on September 17 in Montgomery county on dealing with the struggles poor persons in Montgomery county face (see calendar).
The site is the brainchild and product of one advocate and is not affiliated with any organization or group. It is his hope and intention that it might serve as a forum to further that town hall discussion - to provide a forum to exchange information, resources, ideas, suggestions and questions and as a vehicle to enable poor citizens to collaborate, organize, engage in grassroots advocacy and thereby become empowered to bring about desired and needed personal and system change.
This virtual poverty center can be whatever those who wish to use it make of it, limited only by our time, energy, commitment and imagination.
So please join in to make life better for yourself and/or so many others who are struggling to make it in Maryland! |
