Founded in 1986 by members of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA), and leading consumer advocates, the Civil Justice Foundation awards grants to grassroots consumer advocacy groups. To date, the Foundation has awarded over one million dollars to nearly 100 organizations. These modest grants (ranging from $1,500 to $20,000) exemplify ATLA and the Foundation's commitment to preventing consumer injury, and protecting consumers' access to justice. The Foundation is committed to preventing consumer injury and defending a consumer's access to justice, through grants to progressive grassroots organizations seeking systemic change. The Foundation is especially interested in organizations or projects that find it difficult to obtain funding from more traditional sources because they are newly organized, and/or address a controversial problem. KIDS ‘N CARS salutes all of the wonderful work of the Civil Justice Foundation and are forever grateful for being our “first ever” funder!
