PRESS CONFERENCE AND FUNERAL PROCESSION/VIGIL OF CALIFORNIA'S SAFETY NET PROGRAMS

The reduction and elimination of many health and human services in California like- IHSS, HIV/AIDS Prevention, PACT, CalWORKS, Healthy Families, Core Mental Health services, SSI, Food Assistance, Medi-Cal- will be devastated to our communities, state, and overall national economy.

If you or somebody you know is going to be impacted by the cuts, bring their picture and a story to send a message to the Governor and Federal government:

CALIFORNIA IS OUR STATE, LETS DECIDE WHICH PROGRAMS ARE VALUABLE FOR OUR COMMUNITIES!
DON'T PUT THE BURDEN OF CALIFORNIA'S BUDGET CRISIS ON OUR COMMUNITIES!
PROGRESSIVE TAXES AND BUDGET REFORM NOW!

Our
Consumer Advocacy Coalition
Consumer Advocacy Coalition mission is to reform mental health care in Santa Barbara County, fund services to consumers affected by changes in the county budget, and keep consumers and the larger general public fully informed. The Consumer Advocacy Coalition meets weekly at 7:00 pm on Sunday. At this point, we ask that everyone RSVP. We are filing for 501(c)3 non-profit tax-exempt status. CAC is not associated with any Community Based Organization, existing consumer group, county or state program, or allied with any political party. Our organization is divided into a few key areas: legal, marketing, organizing and fundraising. We are interviewing attorneys, designing marketing campaigns, organizing key individuals, asking community members to match donations made by consumers and/or their relatives, and listening to the concerns of consumers across the county and doing our best to inform them of the latest events. But of everything we do or intend to do, we will offer something unique in this county's consumer history - scholarships awarded directly to consumers by consumers to help reinstate some or all of the services they lost.
If you're interested in attending this week, let me know.
take care,
roger
