City of Berkeley Transportation Programs |
Service: The City of Berkeley provides a limited amount of subsidy for the use of regular and wheelchair-accessible taxicabs, East Bay Paratransit, and van companies for eligible residents through several ticket and voucher programs.
In addition to this, for senior residents, the City of Berkeley also provides Senior Center mini buses. For residents with disabilities, emergency transportation for wheelchair riders, a homeless shelter shuttle, and recreational outings are offered.
Hours: Hours vary by service: taxicab access is available 24 hours while van services operate more limited hours.
Eligibility:
(1) Taxi Scrip Program: (a) Certified by East Bay Paratransit as disabled, or (b) 70 years and older with income not more than 30 percent of the Area Median Income.
(2) Wheelchair-Van Program: Those who travel by wheelchair and are certified by East Bay Paratransit, irrespective of income.
Application required: Complete the City-Based Paratransit Services Application and mail it to the address above.
