Welcome!

FOSTERing trauma survivors - to be in charge of rebuilding their TOTAL selves - is our first and foremost mission. You're in the right place.

All of us trauma survivors feel kind of split off, fragmented, and separated from ourselves. And there are good reasons. Your brain literally did this to save you, and/or someone else - which means you're a hero. So, BRAVO!

WHAT IS TRAUMA RECOVERY?
It's about trusting - that you'll take 2 steps forward, even if you take a step back.

IS THERE A FINISH LINE?
Sure, wherever you decide. And make it a "fabulous struggle"!
(THANK YOU Dr. Carol Dweck of Stanford University).

HOW DOES ALL OF THIS WORK?
OK, here are a few ideas. Don't agree?
Great! Please add your own.

1) LEARN TO TRUST....YOU -
Trust your opinions, what you know, feel, and believe. Test yourself regularly. Adjust your thinking, any old time. Get other opinions, change tracks, reverse directions, try things. Give yourself permission. Anything goes!

2) CHALLENGE YOURSELF TO QUESTION THINGS
Find your own reality, the one that makes sense to you, no matter what others say or think. Your truth and reality are unique to you. Trust them!

3) LEARN TO RECONNECT - WITH PEOPLE
You'll hear other ideas, and determine who feels safe to you. Remember that most of us have good and bad parts of us. Give yourself a chance to find and use your good parts, and those in others!

4) IF YOU'RE PROUD OF YOU TODAY - YOU'RE DOING IT RIGHT
If you feel proud of the way you're behaving around others, and when you're alone, then you're on the right track. Just trust it.

5) DOES RECOVERY HAVE STEPS AND PROCESSES?
You bet. And if you're a trauma survivor, there's about a 90% chance you're smart, fast, and will need to relearn some things. That's why safe and comfortable friendship groups, role models and mentors are such a good idea.

6) HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
Hmmmmm. Recovery is a lifelong process, (just like life itself!). So, whether we're old timers, or newbies, we're here to help each other. And that's exactly what fostering means, one day at a time.

"TOGETHER, WE ARE ONE/WON"
