Jewish Family Service of San Diego
At Jewish Family Service our mission is to strengthen the individual, enhance the family, protect the vulnerable, with human services based on Jewish values.

We offer a variety of programs to serve the older adult community of San Diego. The majority of our services are open to all older adults, regardless of religious affilitation.

 
CARE MANAGEMENT
Geriatric Care Managers help seniors and their families successfully navigate the challenges that are common to the aging process, providing short-term solutions and long term plans. Services provided include:
Comprehensive needs assessment
Care plans to maximize independence
Referral & securing appropriate services
Consultation, advocacy & education
Placement assistance
Ongoing monitoring & evaluation

HEARTFELT HOMES PLACEMENT
Heartfelt Homes Placement Service is a free consulting service that explores living options with Seniors and their families.
We educate and guide seniors to the best place to live, including:
Independent Retirement Communities
Assisted Living Communities
Dementia/Alzheimer's Care
Board and Care
We know that changes can be difficult. We make every effort to ease this transition. We are available to help out clients every step of the way. Our professionals know the specialists who can make this new beginning as stress-free as possible. For more information call (858) 637-3040

SERVING OLDER HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS (SOS)
The SOS program provides Care Management, advocacy and translation services to needy Holocaust Survivors. Clients receive assistance with paying for homecare and emergency needs through funding from the Claims Conference, the Change a Life Foundation and donations. SENIOR WHEELS
Offers monthly chartered-bus outings to older adults in the North County Inland area. The group attends concerts, theatre performances, the Jewish Book Fair, Jewish Film Festival, and other cultural events. For more information call (760) 747-0303

UNIVERSITY CITY SENIOR CENTER
Open Tuesdays & Thursdays from 10:00am-4:00pm. Provides social, recreational, and educational activities for active older adults. Services offered include congregate meals, adult education classes, arts and crafts, fieldtrips, blood pressure screening, legal counseling and income tax forms assistance. NORTH COUNTY INLAND SENIOR CENTER
Open Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00-4:00pm. Provides social, recreational, and educational activities for active older adults. Services offered include congregate meals, adult education classes, arts and crafts, fieldtrips, blood pressure screening, legal counseling and income tax forms assistance. COLLEGE AVENUE SENIOR CENTER
Open Monday-Friday from 8:00-4:00pm. Provides social, recreational, and educational activities for active older adults. Services offered include congregate meals, adult education classes, arts and crafts, fieldtrips, blood pressure screening, legal counseling and income tax forms assistance. FOODMOBILE
Delivers hot, kosher meals to home-bound older adults, Monday-Friday in the cities of San Diego, El Cajon, Grossmont and La Mesa. For more information contact (619) 229-2390.

JFS FIX-IT SERVICE
Volunteers provide minor home safety modifications and minor home repairs for low-income seniors. Typical repairs include installation of grab bars, handrails, smoke/carbon detectors, wireless doorbells, and light bulbs. For more information call (619) 583-3300 x321

RIDES & SMILES
Volunteer provide rides to homebound older adults in the North County area. Rides are given to the grocery store, medical appointments, and other life necessities. For more information contact (858)391-0033

CO-OP (CREATING OPPORTUNITIES FOR OLDER PERSONS)
Provides and maintains an environment for older residents as they age in place in their community, for as long as possible, in accordance with their personal desires. Co-Op is a NORC, a Naturally Occuring Retirement Community, where the residents have aged in place, resulting in the majority of the households being headed by a senior.
